How did you get started in the business of fitness/wellness?I have always been active and had a passion for fitness, sport and exercise from school so it was a natural move to do something I loved as a career. I had a few options after university but felt I could offer something fresh with my attitude and knowledge to the industry. If I didn't do this then I probably would have been a teacher or joined the police.
What do you love about your job?The main thing I love about my job is seeing my client's confidence grow and seeing them develop a passion for fitness and healthy living like me. I love listening to them telling me people are noticing their results with a big smile on their face. It's a great feeling that you know they are happy and enjoying the training, but reaching big results is down to them keeping consistent and taking on board the advice given.
When you were little, what did you want to be?When I was younger I wanted to be everything from baseball player to astronaut these often changed monthly. But when I started to seriously consider it I knew I wasn't suited to a typical boring job were everyday is the same. I had to make a difference so considered the Armed Forces, Police Officer, Fire Fighter or Sports Teacher. I had only really thought about personal training when I was 21 but knew it was right and it has been.
How would you describe yourself?Team Player, Confident, Enthusiastic, Passionate, Good People Person, a Good Friend, a Good Listener.
Favourite food/drinkI Love all food and find it naturally easy to stick to a good well rounded healthy diet. My favourite food though has got to be a good quality Beef filet steak (rare), Favourite Liverpool restaurant for this is Meet Argentina. My favourite drink other than ice cold water has to be coffee.
What makes time fly for you? When I am not working I still enjoy keeping active and like to keep busy playing sports and trying new things for example; Football, Golf, Running, Rock Climbing, Athletics, Thai Boxing, Paint Balling. I also keep myself in shape and train 4-5 times a week on my own fitness and conditioning. I try to practice what I preach.
What do you do to really relax? To really relax, I enjoy going out for a meal, to the cinema, watching a movie, playing poker with friends and listening to music. Being at home with my family and of course getting lots of sleep, at least 8hrs is needed for a full recharge after a busy day.
What do you most want to achieve during your lifetime? To be successful at what I do. I want to be known for being an excellent coach. Hopefully get a reputation training high profile clients whose body and image are in the spot light and sort after. Of course with success comes money, I want to live a happy life were the stress of money isn't a factor and working hard, taking pride in my work to reach these goals day in day out.
What pearls of wisdom can you offer to others that you hope will make a difference? If you are what you eat and you don't know what you are eating, do you know who you are?
This saying to me truly coincides with the world of processed and fast foods that we live in. We are becoming a species that relies on manmade ready meals that cause nothing but harm to our bodies. Understanding how amazing the human body is through lots of study, you really appreciate the importance of leading a healthier lifestyle.
Whenever possible eat whole, organic, fresh foods and prepare meals from scratch that way you truly know what is going into your body!".
