The Avocado - King of all fruits!
22nd December 2009Avocados are an amazing health food and are labeled the most nutritious of all fruits.
People assume it's no good as part of a weight loss diet due to its high calorie value but these are quality calories and largely come from monounsaturated fats, which lower blood cholesterol and improve heart health.
Monounsaturated fats also speed up your basal metabolic rate (B.M.R) which will make you burn more calories throughout the day.
It is right, avocados contain a few grams of saturated fats, but don't be afraid, as they are from a natural whole food and are quite different to the saturated fats you find in chips and other processed foods.
Other than good fats, Avocados contain lots of vitamins and minerals and they are a complete food. Avocados are also packed with fibre, which helps with controlling blood sugar and digestion.
